Gem in Phong Nha

Our stay at Ho Khans was perfect .The room had a great view of the river and the mountains . It was stunning ! Duc was a great host . He was incredibly helpful throughout our stay; he went above and beyond to ensure that we made the most of our stay in Phong Nha. Duc even arranged transport for us for our next part of the trip .Phong Nha is definitely the most beautiful part of Vietnam and I wish we had more time to explore some of the other caves and valleys . I would definitely recommend anyone that goes to Phong Nha to stay at Ho Khans homestay. We wish to return in the future . Thank you for your hospitality Duc !

Nice location. Free bikes to travel to center of town. Very friendly staff. Pick up at bus station at 4 am.

Wondrous location to relax the nerves after experiencing the big city choas!

The location is fantastic. We'd been in Phnom Penh, Saigon and were off to Hanoi afterwards, so it was lovely to be somewhere so quiet. Watching the locals dragging out weed from the river bed over breakfast, the odd motorised boat going slowly by and generally taking in the hilly landscape was beautiful. The cave complexes nearby are amazing. The staff were lovely, and everyone had a smile and a 'hello' every time we saw them. Very flexible and helpful - organised an early car (and very early breakfast) back to Dong Hoi to leave for 7am. Pancakes were lovely! Not those small eggy US things which need 20 tonnes of syrup, but proper pancakes with a banana to slice over, lime to drizzle over and other sweet additions if required. Mmmmmnnnmmmnmmnmnm!

Very very quiet - most things are closed by about 9pm. Expect to pay a bit for the caves - the car was 1,000,000vnd for the day (but it really was the whole day), 450,000 per person for one cave and about 280,000 for the first two (accessible by boat). That not really a negative though, it's more for information really to prepare people on a budget. Facilities in the room were limited - no coffee/tea making, no telly and nowhere to get snacks when everything had closed. For me it wasn't a problem but the other 2 in my group mentioned it as minor things. Bring a book maybe :)

Loved the host!

Loved the host! Duk was cheerful, friendly and helpful! His english is also very good. He picked us up at 4am when our sleeping bus arrived at the bus station, made calls for us to check with oxalis adventure, arranged motorbike taxis for us to explore the area, arranged for our laundry to be washed and dried, and also gave me warm lemon tea to drink when I couldn't stop coughing the morning we were leaving for the oxalis adventure trip. We got a really nice room with a view of the emerald green lake and we also got to swim in it too! The location is about a 25 minute bike ride to the center of town where there are plenty of restaurants and shopping options. Right across from the homestay is a restaurant with really filling and tasty local foods would definitely stay here again if we visit in the future!

Amazing service and people at Ho Khanh’s homestay, very accommodating and friendly. They waked us to a local restaurant to get food when we arrived late and breakfast was fab at the homestay it’s self. A great view from the room.

Awesome place to enjoy scenic views and immerse yourself in country side's vibe.

Firstly we wanted to stay at this place because we knew the owner was the guy who discovered the Son Doong cave and a few local caves. The hosts and staff were friendly, accommodating and attentive to our needs. Although somehow our booking with Ho Khanh’s homestay via booking.com did not reach them, they still tried their best to accommodate us. We truly appreciated their effort. The breakfast was good. The location is amazing which offers gorgeous river view. The homestay is somewhat far away from a little downtown which offers serenity to the guests who want quietness and peaceful time. It is quite accessible by bicylcle to some renowned attractions such as Phong Nha Cave, Botanical Garden, and some other local landscape. If you are adventurous, you must try to cross the Son River by a ferry to the north side of the river to explore more fascinating landscape. The winding and narrow road eventually leads to a picturesque destination ;). I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed. The staff in charge was extremely helpful in all matters such as directions to the attractions, restaurants, and accommodations. He was hilarious and polite. Our conversation with him was engaging and interesting which made our stay even better.

Nothing. Booking.Com somehow messed up our booking even though we received their booking confirmation. They did not forward our booking to the hosts of Ho Khanh’s homestay which frustrated us so much. Nonetheless the hosts tried their best to accommodate us. We truly appreciated the hosts’ effort.

Staff were attentive to our needs, rooms were comfy & clean, worth the beautiful view of the river.

The view was beautiful. Room was clean and bathroom worked. Friendly & attentive hosts.

The staff overcharged our booking for our train tickets (400,000 VND/person when the tickets were actually 190,000 VND/person).

-Duc, the owners nephew is awesome!

-Duc, the owners nephew is awesome! Super funny, available and wants to be assured we have anything needed. - Breakfast is awesome (varied, fresh fruits) - view of the river is stunning - location is great! So peaceful as compared to the hotels in town, you really feel in nature. It isn't walkable distance from Son Trach but very easily done in motorbikes and we didn't have any problems to go out to have dinner in town

Very Humid in the rooms (as well as outside, it's that time of the year..) Not the most beautiful rooms when you stay in the "regular" rooms, neither any views of the river A little pricey (we were mainly away during the whole day visiting the area which limited our time spent at the hotel with the amazing view it offers)

Definitely recommanded

Really nice view. It definitely makes the place worth a stay. Really nice staff. We had the chance to be welcomed by the nephew of the owner. Helpful and kind. Made our stay more pleasant. Good restaurant on the other side of the street for dinner.

A bit far from the town so no bars or nightlife around. Didn't really bother us. 90% humidity outside AND in the rooms, and our friends (room next door) had some insects but nothing too bad

Great view, delicious breakfast, but a little over priced.

The pancakes served for breakfast are the real deal, very yummy and hot too. Duc (Ho khanhs nephew) is very attentive and polite. Can’t do enough for you!

It’s a little damp, maybe down to time of year.

Loved it!

Staff were all lovely and very helpful with arranging private transfers. They also recomended a couple of great tours whilst we were there. The pancakes at breakfast were amazing!
